It’s International Mountain Day. The Indian Himalayan region is spanning the northern states of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh as well as the hill regions of two eastern states, Assam and West Bengal. Till 1852, India was the country with world’s highest mountain until Everest was not discovered. Kanchenjunga still holds world’s 3rd rank of highest mountain to conquer. Even today, advanced technology and mountaineering gadgets don’t seem to have made this one any easier with a death rate of 22%.
