Do you think that you can be a Vlogger?
Well yes anyone can be a Vlogger and in the age where online reality is replacing actual reality in every facet of our lives. Imagine 1.5 billion people visiting YouTube every month. More than 8 billion video views and more than 100 million hours of video watched on Facebook daily. Blogging has been taken a back seat since Vlogging came into the picture. Bloggers that use video well have a better chance of building a large audience.
Don’t you think when everyone is creating so much content; you are losing out on this great opportunity to get loyal fans of talent? Well if you are seeking guidelines then I must tell you there is no such word in the digital world. You will not believe what can work and what can not, and I think that is the magic of this world. You just keep on creating good content and in this article we are trying to help in how any of you can create and upload good content. So let’s get started.
Steps to be Vlogger
Your Brand Name:
Decide a unique brand name for you, which signifies you and your content. Make sure you keep all your social media handles (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc) with same brand names. It will make easy for your followers to find you on different platforms. If possible then design a logo for your brand and use it on your content. So in future, if anyone uses your content, your brand logo will also get more visibility.
How to build good content?
Creating digital content is tricky because you can never judge what content will work on the internet. Best you can practice with being up to date and create content around the trending topics, festivals, and on more shareability. Before creating digital content we would like to throw light on important hygiene while creating content.
It might look weird to you while seeing our second suggestion – Audio. But it is one of the most important things to keep in mind. If your video doesn’t have good audio then chances of people skipping your content are much higher. If your video quality is not great, still you can salvage it with quality soundtrack and Voice over. In the market, there are many low-end and mid-level camcorders come with a MIC in port. If you have budgets then you can also buy a lapel MIC with Zoom recorder, but I suggest that camcorders will be better options for beginners. Choose your Background music very carefully, because if you pick up a music with copyrights then you might get troubles while uploading your content to YouTube/ Facebook/ Instagram. But don’t you worry here is the YouTube’s free audio library which you can use for the content background score.
Lighting is one of the most important factors to consider when you are shooting content. Try to shoot mostly during daytime. As said in photography, the golden hour is a period shortly after sunrise or before sunset during which daylight is redder and softer than when the Sun is higher in the sky. Make sure the source of the light (usually the sun, or if indoors it’s the window) is always behind the camera (or slightly to the side). If you are using a mobile phone for shooting the content, then consider iPhone X and 7Plus, Google’s Pixel 2XL, Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Edge, OnePlus 5T, HTC U11, and OnePlus 3T. These phones are good for capturing videos in low light.
What kind of camera will you need to do online video? Well… what kind of camera do you have? I would definitely start there. I have started creating content from my iPhone and today I am more comfortable with a phone rather than any other camera. Why? Well, it is easy to operate and all time available in your pocket. If you go on high end then it depends upon your genre of content, for e.g if you are trying to create a travel Vlog then you should go for GoPro and Osmo, more of action cameras. But if you are trying to make a review, comedy or food vlog then you should consider Canon EOS 700D or 5DMark3. You also need to get one tripod or monopod for the same. Manfrotto is the decent choice of monopod and tripod for the beginners.
Editing your videos is an art and you will learn it with time. Cut, Paste, and edit is not editing. You should visualize your video first and play the cuts all around the music beats. There are multiple software freely available online like MovieMaker for Windows and iMovie for Mac when you need to edit the video. These options are good for beginners. For high-end editing, you can use Premiere Pro CS6 (Free available) or Final Cut Pro. There are multiple YouTube tutorial videos for your guidance in learning this software.
If you are wondering which platform to use for video logging, then I must suggest YouTube is the best option. YouTube gives and immediate access to a global audience. But do not forget the Facebook, It has more reach than any other digital platform in the recent time. Short, quirky and interesting content works on Facebook. So it’s always a smart step to keep yourself updated with trends. Keeping all digital platforms in the sink will enhance your content reach. Upload content on YouTube/Facebook and promote the link on your other social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Personal Blogs, Whatsapp, LinkedIn etc. You can easily create a Blog on WordPress or Wix website, which offers beautiful and classic templates for your blog at no cost.
