The world of Hindi Cinema has lost a genius. Kundan Shah – Director of iconic movies like Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron and sitcoms Ye Jo Hai Zindagi passed away on Friday night.
Kundan Shah is also the director of Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, a defining film in Shah Rukh Khan’s career. A film with a lighthearted vibe, KHKN took up for the underdog – Shah Rukh Khan plays Sunil who’s pining for Anna played by Suchitra Krishnamurthy but loses her to Chris (Deepak Tijori) and bows out gracefully.
The film came at a time when Shah Rukh was playing dark characters in movies like Baazigar, Darr, and Anjaam. It set a different tone with it’s comic yet soul touching notes and got Shah Rukh Khan the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance.
The star took to Twitter to post a heartfelt message and tribute to Kundan Shah.
Oh my friend I miss you. I know u will bring smiles around wherever u are…but this world will laugh less now. RIP pic.twitter.com/3htJoJUtZh
