The Aamir Khan starrer Dangal – first wowed audiences back home in India and now is cracking fireworks at the box office in China since it’s release there on May 5th. Right from its opening weekend in China, the film has been a huge hit – which now after four weeks has touched humongous proportions – a first for an Indian film release in China.

Incidentally, this is Aamir Khan’s third film to release in that territory after Three Idiots and PK. Dangal set new box office records in China with an opening day collection of 2.5million dollars. Earlier PK held the record for opening day collections in China at 1 million dollars. The opening weekend collections of Dangal were also a record breaking 11.30 million dollars in China.

And this dream run continued at the box office for Dangal for four weeks.

And then the film set some more new records at the Chinese Box Office touching a whopping 100 million.

And soon Dangal overtook worldwide collections of Bahubali 2 minus its China release.

And now the unimaginable has happened, to quote a report on the Forbes dated May 31st: “The Aamir Khan-starring family sports drama Dangal has reached the mind-bending figure of 1,000 Crore rupees (US $154 million, or 1.05 billion Chinese yuan) in box office receipts since it opened on May 5th
