Kundan Shah passed at the age of 69 on Friday, 6th October due to a massive heart attack. The filmmaker has left behind him a volume of iconic work including the cut classic from the 80’s Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron. Kundan Shah was also the director the very popular sitcoms – Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, Nukkad and Wagle Ki Duniya – all aired on Doordarshan in the ’80’s.
His stellar work continued in the ’90’s when presented Shah Rukh Khan in a memorable role in the film Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, which dared to show its hero as an underdog, who eventually rises above the societal pressures – all told with a light hearted vibe. Even his film with Preity Zinta, Kya Kehna was considered ahead of its time – for telling the story of a young girl who decides to have a child out of wedlock.
In fact, it is no surprise that within hours of the news, two of his most popular films are trending on Twitter – with tributes pouring in continuously.
RIP Kundan Shah…. a cult filmmaker …a solid story teller…..

It's probably wrong but I can't help but imagine Kundan Shah n Renu Saluja meeting n arguing over a cut n maybe Ravi Baswani is mediating!
