The euphoria surrounding Justin Bieber’s Mumbai Concert on May 10th was huge. For weeks before he actually touched down in the city, there was a buzz of media attention on ‘Justin’s Demands’ – from a redesigning his room at a five-star hotel to a royal dinner with gold & silver engraved plates to a Jacuzzi and special Kerala masseuse backstage.

Beliebers waited for their icon outside the Mumbai International Airport well past midnight until wee hours on Wednesday to get a glimpse. Bieber’s day around the city – his meeting underprivileged children, his stop over at a Vashi for a drink, his chopper landing at DY Patil Stadium, the Bollywood stars at the concert and what they wore, Justin on the stage – were all reported – loved and retweeted a thousand times over.

In fact, some fans even made it on crutches!

But the next day Twitterati woke up to a different mood, One of the first tweets to hit the timeline was this:

Then came a few more

So what we could not enjoy at the concert… still it’s always fun with you my love. Thank you ?

To make matters worse, it seems concert goers who shelled out exorbitant amounts up to Rs. 76000 were disappointed that Bieber’s lip synced most of his songs.

Filmmaker Anurag Basu who was also at the concert told PTI, “I would have been happy if he would have sung all songs live. He only sang four songs live. An artist of his calibre should sing live. He was not prepared,”

That’s not all, reportedly actress Jacqueline Fernandez who was rumored to be the host for a ‘select’ party with Justin Bieber and his crew was left hugely disappointed. Reports suggest that Bieber chose to cancel the party and fly out of Mumbai the same night. She apparently refused to walk on the red carpet and left the venue discreetly. The actress who had flown down from London, where she was shooting ‘Judwaa 2’, for the concert, was also supposed to be his guide around the city on his second day in Mumbai.

Other than this, Bieber fans especially ones in the general section were heard complaining about the lack of facilities – filthy loos, highly priced drinking water, lack of dustbins and garbage strewn around. Even the speakers in that section were reportedly not working properly.

In fact, according to an ANI report the media persons invited to cover Bieber’s concert also experienced huge difficulties in entering the venue on Wednesday.

“The media was called to report at 2 p.m. to collect their accreditation at the DY Patil Stadium, and some three dozen journalists had reached there well before time in view of the huge rush.

However, the PR team of Dream & Hustle Media appeared to backtrack on its own commitments at the last minute and the media was abruptly told at around 4 p.m. that only select representatives would be allowed.

After nearly a three hour wait, barely a handful of media representatives were allowed entry into the concert area to shoot the show for five minutes.”

Many media people were denied entry and some given the option of only covering the red carpet and not the main event.

A quote by a photographer to ANI summed it up “There were no arrangements for drinking water or toilets… in the scorching sun, we stood for hours on the roadside with police and private security offering little help”
